Why does ABI Tape recommend to also protect the base sheet?
During the compression moulding process there, epoxy may seep out on the side of the board. If the base sheet is unprotected, the epoxy may seep onto the base. When the base is sealed with our ProtectRite product, epoxy will end up on the tape rather than the base sheet. The cost to clean the base sheet outweighs the cost to seal.
What is the difference between Scapa 1284 and ProtectRite 1510?
In performance there is not much of a difference: similar adhesion, elongation and able withstand curing temperatures up to 130°C.
Also in terms of properties, the tapes are very similar. Both backings are polypropylene coated with a rubber adhesive system. The total thickness is comparable 133 µm for Scapa’s 1284 vs 110 µm for ProtectRite 1510. Â
The major difference is in the price. The price value of the 1510 is better than Scapa’s 1284. Please dare to compare.
